A combination of old and new

The challenge of this total project was to incorporate the authentic elements such as the brick vaults, mosaic floor and inner doors with glass windows into a new design.

Interior design firm Steenhuyse, signature spaces took up the challenge and delivered an impressive result. They chose the best craftspeople to do the work. A partnership that included Odilon Creations, De Maatwerker and DIM Atelier yielded distinctive elements that lend the home a warm, eclectic atmosphere.

To add extra cachet, the entire kitchen island was done in Calacatta Verde marble from Potier Stone. No less than five metres long, with bookmatch and a built-in custom-made sink in the same marble. When the kitchen cupboards are open, more of the natural stone is revealed, as if it’s a candy box.

The splash board in Nero Dorado marble adds a fine detail in the bathroom. A black stone with golden veins running straight through it. With its stand-alone bath and black taps, this bathroom radiates blissful peace.

Lime-based floors and walls were chosen for the kitchen and bathroom. Odilon Creations applies this traditional technique, which creates a modern, sleek look and is also water resistant. All the custom-made elements in dark wengé were produced by De Maatwerker and the light fitting above the kitchen island was made to order in brass by DIM Atelier.
